Another trip

On May 9th I invited Sr. Rose to go to John D'or Prairie approximately 135 km east of High Level. This township is a Reserve of the Little Red River Cree Nation. Really remarkable there is the famous Tipi Church which the Sisters have had built there about twenty years ago. I for myself was there in the end of March, but now I think I added some good photographs so I will show you the slideshow again (of course with new added pictures)

After this visit we drove back - but as I saw the mountain just ahead of me in the north we desided to go there if we find an access road. After driving about 10km eastbound we found actually an access road which brought us northbound. After - let's say - estimated further 12 km on a really rough and bumpy road and after the way has turned eastbound and due to the fact, that I hadn't any backroad map with me, we turned and drove back. It was rather funny for me, because Sr. Rose seemed to be a little bit scared - but really only a little bit. Before we came back to the mainroad we had a rather exciting few over the landscape of the Northern Peace Region. It was really exciting. A short film may give you a slight impression of this little adventure

Now another issue - it is related to my home ...

I was rather excited this day because "my kids" entered the Austrian Federal First Aid Competition for students from grade 5 to grade 13. As the only participants of our province we attended this competition with three groups: Two groups grade 6 and one group grade 8. The younger one entered the basic competition the elder one the extended competition (they won the basic two years ago).

I am really proud to tell you, that in the basic competition one group could reach the second place and the other group the fifth. At the extended competition the group failed unfortunately only one point to the 3rd place. But however. I and many other people in our county know, that, if you get an severe sudden sickness or accident, almost nothing better (except the presence of an emergency team of the Red Cross) could happen to you as to get help of one of those kids. They are really remarkable good. And what the most important thing is: They are not a kind of drilled and well coached apes - they would really come to business.

Due to the fact, that I don't have any newer pictures I will show you some of the year 2008 - primarily those people who never saw pictures of such a competition will get a good impression what those young people are able to do on the one hand and what fun the kids have at such a competition (beside all excitement about the question who will win the competition - the prospects which they are setting themselves are rather high)

Ausflug zum Alexandra Fall in the North West Territories
